Drug warrant nets one arrest

The Lockhart Police Department continues to focus efforts on reducing drug traffic in and around Lockhart.
A routine warrant service became a potentially explosive event on Oct. 18 when officers attempted to execute a search on a Pear Street home. Although individuals were present in the home, officer requests to open th

e door were not complied with, creating the need for a “forced-entry” search, according to LPD officials.
Witnesses to the warrant execution said that several LPD officers, with backup from officers from the Luling Police Department, broke down the door at 726 Pear St. to serve the warrant.
Two adults and one child were present in the home. One adult was taken into custody and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. At the time of his arrest, the suspect had two active warrants outstanding – one for an indictment on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and the other on a Motion to Revoke Probation on a prior possession charge.
Nearly three grams of crack cocaine were seized in the search.
According to LPD Capt. John Roesher, Child Protective Services was called to assist at the scene, because of the presence of the children.
The LPD investigation surrounding the suspect arrested is ongoing, and may yield additional warrants or arrests.
