Joe Velasquez

Mr. Joe Velasquez, 79, passed away peacefully in San Marcos, Texas, on Jan. 6, 2008. He was born to Lee and Benita Capello Velasquez on May 5, 1928 in Lockhart, Texas.
He is survived by one son, Casey Vela of Lockhart; two daughters, Nova Vela of Lockhart, and Linda Vela of San Antonio; four brothers, Gilbert Velasquez, Tony Velasquez and Lupe Velasquez, all of Austin,

and Abel Velasquez of Manchaca; and two sisters, Mary Helen Martinez and Rosemary Mendez both of Lockhart.
A Rosary was held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Lupe Aguilar officiating. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary”s Catholic Church with Father Efrain Villanueva officiating. Interment followed at St. Mary”s Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Phillip Velasquez, John Mendez, Casey Vela, Andrew Velasquez, Luis Martinez, and Abel Velasquez. Serving as the honorary pallbearers were: Bryan Vela, John David Mendez, Marissa Liserio, Michael Velasquez, Eddie Velasquez, Karen Martinez and Casey Vela, Jr.
