Gordon Quincy Sides
Today we lost the most wonderful man in our lives. Gordon Quincy Sides lost his fifth and final battle with cancer. He was 84 years old and went peacefully at home. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glenda Chambliss Sides of Lockhart and their two sons, James Earl Sides and wife C.J. of Austin and David Neal Sides and wife Debra of Lockhart. Five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a brother J.A. Sides of Odessa, a sisters Ollie Hagemeier of Abilene and Virginia Rodney of Coldsprings. Many newphews, nieces and friends.
He was an avid outdoorsman. Gordon served in the U.S. Air Force and worked on the first Ballistic Atlas Missile at Vandenberg AFB, California. He whistled beautifully, and loved playing base guitar all over the area with dozens of very talented musical friends. He worked for years in the oil fields in west Texas and eastern New Mexico. He drove a big ruck, was a policeman for seven years, had a wood working shop, and was the best auto body repairman Austin ever seen. We will never quit loving and missing him.
Thanks to all of the medical staff that participated in his comfort and made his passing easier. Cremation handled through Thomason Funeral Home. No flowers, private family service. God bless all. – The Sides Family
