La Nelle Grobowsky
La Nelle Grobowsky of Lockhart passed from this life on Nov. 24, 2008 at the remarkable age of 87. La Nelle was born on Oct. 28, 1921 to Jake and Nelle Waldrip. She was raised in Lockhart and San Marcos.
La Nelle married a true gentleman in William “Bill” Grobowsky on July 4 1941. La Nelle gave birth to their daughter on Jan. 22, 1943.
LaNelle was a woman
ahead of her time. She knew long before most that a woman could have a family and a career. La Nelle retired from Hammerman and Gannor Insurance Agency as a Worker’s Compensation Investigator in the late 1960s.
La Nelle has taught us all about strength. No matter the challenge, she faced it with dignity and grace. She never complained and always found the best in everything and everyone. This world has lost a true lady.
La Nelle was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Milred Huff; and a great-grandson, Brandon Douglas Pineda.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Sandra Grobowsky Douglas and her husband, Ron Fleming; grandson, William Montgomery “Monty” Douglas; granddaughter, Tracy Nelson and her husband, Ben; and her great-granddaughter Amanda Paige Bingman.
Funeral services were held at Eeds Funeral Home, at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 with Reverend Carolyn Rosenbalm officiating. Burial followed at the Lockhart City Cemetery.
