Mrs. Helen Decker, 75, of Buda, passed away peacefully in Austin on March 5, 2009, with her family at her side. Helen was born in Eastland, Texas, on Aug. 7, 1933, to Travis T. and Thelma Lorene Hogan Elkins. She had worked at K-Mart as a personnel supervisor before her retirement.

Helen was an active member of the Baptist church and belonged to several organizations

. Some of these were: Daughters of the Republic, United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas 1812 Chapter, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Terrell Copeland; and her stepdaughter, Nancy Lynn Decker-Hagerman.

She is survived by her husband, William Henry Decker, Jr.; her children: Rubin and Faye Copeland, of Austin, and Kathleen and James Caddell, of Gonzales; step-children: Sharon Blackmon, of Independence, Mo., Kevin Paul and Linh Decker, of Raytown, Mo., La Nell and Richard Rogers, of Wimberley, and Nathan Decker and Theresa Murphy, of Smithville; sisters: Pearl Cornell of Chase, Mich., and Mary Broughton of Lake Village, Ind.; brothers: D. B. “Bud” Williamson, of Lake Buchanan, Texas, and Douglas Henderson; 29 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

A visitation was held at Eeds Funeral Home on Sunday, March 8, 2009, from 5 – 8 p.m., with family and friends in attendance. Graveside services were held at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009.
