LISD breaks ground on elementary school No. 6
The official groundbreaking for Lockhart’s sixth elementary school at 3200 Borchert Loop was held last week.
In November 2022, voters passed the school bond phase 1, which made it possible to construct the new elementary (and a new wing at the high school). Bond phase 2, including a new junior high, will come no later than 2025.
Members of the construction and architect teams, elected officials from the city and county, district leaders, bond committee members, foundation members, our incredible student groups, community members and more joined for the groundbreaking west of town.
The Roaring Lion Band and Color Guard, Lockhart Cheer, Lionettes and Legacies, the AFJROTC, and Choir also brough guests their Lion spirit.
After the ceremony, attendees enjoyed a catered lunch from Terry Black’s and a spread of Lockhart Lion-themed desserts.
Drymalla Construction put together the ceremony.
