Arlyne Botkin will serve as the next Park Superintendent of Lockhart State Park. Botkin was selected after a rigorous review and through a competitive interview and selection process.

According to Deputy Regional Director Chris Bishop, “We’re beyond excited to work with Arlyne Botkin in this new role. Arlyne is precisely the caliber of park leader who we hoped would be leading the Lockhart State Park team in its next chapter.”

Botkin is a native of San Antonio. She earned a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Environmental Science, and she has a range of professional experience, including working as an environmental consultant, conducting technical work in surveying birds and managing nature centers.

Botkin’s journey with Texas Parks & Wildlife Department began in 2019, when she worked for the Coastal Fisheries Division as the Visitor Center Manager and Volunteer Coordinator for Sea Center Texas. She also served as the Park Naturalist and Resource Specialist for Hill Country State Natural Area prior to her current role of Park Superintendent of Big Spring State Park.

Lockhart State Park is a 263.7-acre parcel of public land managed by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department to conserve natural and cultural resources, provide recreational and educational opportunities, and foster an understanding of the diversity of Texas’ lands and heritage for all generations.
