La Vernia sweeps junior high Lions

Lockhart Junior High ran into a La Verna buzzsaw last week, losing both 8th grade games as well as both 7th grade contests.
Two of the games were one-point nailbiters, while the Lions were shut out in the two other games.
He 8th Grade Maroon (A) Lions lost, 19-18, at home to La Vernia as the Bears kicked a 27-yard field goal as time expired for the victory. If the Lions can win out, they could meet La Vernia on the road for a district championship.
The 8th Grade White (B) Lions, lost 12-0, to La Vernia.
The 7th Grade Maroon (A) Lions were shut out 24-0, at La Vernia. Jake White and Oliver Gonzales were credited with good games for LJH.
The 7th Grade White (B) Lions trailed 14-0 the half but fought back only to lose 14-13. Daisean Johnson and Joshua Rodriguez each scored touchdowns for LJH.
Lockhart Junior High played AJB Middle School on Tuesday – the 8th Grade teams at home and the 7th Grade teams at Seguin – and the Lions will have an open date on Oct. 15.
