Nova Dene Beeson
Nova Dene Beeson of Lockhart went home to be with her Lord Feb. 16, 2005, having succumbed to pneumonia two weeks after breaking her hip. She was born in Grapeland, Texas Jan. 12, 1912.
In 1932 she met H.W. (Beecie) Beeson at a business college where he typed her a love note on a silk handkerchief. They married in 1933 and lived in Houston until moving to Lockhart in
1946 to open a Lack”s Auto Store on the square. Later, they started Beeson”s Radiator Service on Hwy. 183. They loved traveling, and visited over 30 countries, often seeking out missionaries to offer encouragement and support. Beecie preceded her in death in 1983.
A faithful member of First Lockhart Baptist Church for 59 years, Nova Dene served in many capacities: superintendent of adult and junior departments; teacher of Women”s Career class and a young married women”s class; WMU president; “temporary” Girl”s Auxiliary leader for 11 years; Vacation Bible School teacher and leader of bible study and prayer groups in her home.
Nova Dene is survived by two daughters, Janice Hammon and husband Gary of San Antonio and Nelda Moran and husband Jim of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Cheryl Johnston and husband John of Waco, David Hammon and wife Lezli of Pensacola, FL., Holly Hammon and husband Doug Barth of San Antonio, Melinda Vaughn and husband John of San Diego, CA. and David Moran of San Diego; great-grandchildren include Emily and Tyler Hammon and Davis Johnston. Another beloved great-grandson, Gary Flynn predeceased her in 2003 at the age of 22. Also surviving her is one of her eight siblings, Hayden Kolb and wife Joyce of Houston.
