A Lockhart man was seriously injured in a vehicle-versus-bicycle accident on Tuesday evening.
Just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Aug. 31, several motorists called 9-1-1 to report a bicyclist being struck by a car near the intersection of Prairie Lea and Medina Streets in Lockhart. The cyclist was identified as 55-y
ear-old Raul Navarro, of Lockhart.
The Lockhart Police Department reported on Wednesday morning that Navarro was riding his bicycle westbound on Prairie Lea Street when he was struck by a motorist in a Ford Fusion traveling southbound on Medina Street.
Navarro, who sustained “serious” injuries, was transported by Lockhart EMS to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, where he remained on Wednesday morning.
The accident remains under investigation, and it was unclear on Wednesday morning whether any charges would be filed against the driver, an 18-year-old Lockhart woman who was not injured.
