Preston Leon Riddle
Sunrise April 4, 1924, and sunset Aug. 31, 2010. He was born in Dale, Texas, to Monroe and Lula (Lackey) Riddle.
He is survived by wife of 64 years, Iris (Alexander) Riddle; daughters, Beverly Henson and Pam Petterson; grandchildren, Kelli Roeber, Chris Nielsen, Presley Roeber, Ryan Jones and Dylan Petterson.

ew up in Dale, where he attended the local school until he volunteered for service in World War II at the age of 18. He served in the 81st Troop Carrier Squadron under the 53rd troop carrier wing. He was in battle in South France, Belgium, Germany, Holland and Normandy during the D-Day Invasion. He came home in October 1945.
He met Iris soon after and they married on April 21, 1946. Leon had a career with Humble Oil Co. until the family moved to Dale and he pursued cattle ranching. Later came a dress shop, two convenience stores and two self-serve laundromats. After retirement, they traveled in their RV to all continental 48 states, across Canada and into Alaska.
Leon lived a full and happy life with his family. His children and grandchildren were a source of pride and joy.
Family received friends on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services were held in McCurdy Memorial Chapel on Sept. 3, 2010. Interment followed in Bunton Cemetery.
