‘Best of Caldwell County Readers’ Poll’ starts this week
Did a local business knock your socks off this year? Do you remember someone providing customer service so great it kept you smiling all day? Serving a meal worth writing home about?
The Lockhart Post-Register is offering a great way to say, “Thank you.”
Inside today’s Post-Register, readers will find the official ballot for the Sixth Annual “Best of Caldwell C
ounty Readers’ Choice Poll.” In addition to voting for your favorite businesses with your patronage, why not support them with your vote?
“After being in business for as many years as I have, one of the things I’ve learned is it’s difficult to know for sure if your customers think you’re doing a good job,” said Dana Garrett, publisher of the Lockhart Post-Register and one of the initial innovators of the “Best of Caldwell County Readers’ Choice Awards. “Sometimes, customers don’t think to tell a business ‘job well done,’ or to recognize someone that goes above and beyond the call of their job.”
Garrett said one of the first impulses behind introducing the “Best of Caldwell County Readers’ Choice Awards” was that desire to say “thanks.”
“I know that we all forget, from time to time, to say when someone treats us well, or does a good job for us,” he said. “I try not to, but I’m guilty of that, too. And I think that by sponsoring the ‘Readers’ Choice Awards’ every year, we remind people and give them the chance to let their favorite businesses know that they are welcome, appreciated and doing good things in our community.”
New to the “Best of Caldwell County Readers’ Choice Awards” this year, voters will have the chance to choose their favorite margarita, their favorite dance studio and to recognize the best apartment complex in Caldwell County.
“As the community grows and changes, there are always going to be things in the ‘Best of Caldwell County’ that we want to tweak and change, to make sure we’re keeping up,” said Post-Register editor LPR Staff. “As businesses come and go, and change their focus to keep up with the wants and needs of the community, we want to still be able to use the ‘Readers’ Choice Awards’ as a way to make sure we recognize all the wonderful businesses, individuals and services our hometown has to offer.”
The official ballot for the “Best of Caldwell County Readers’ Choice Awards” will be published in the Post-Register each Thursday in February. Voters must complete the information on the ballot and choose winners in at least 20 categories to have their ballots counted. All ballots must be returned to the Lockhart Post-Register at 111 S. Church St., in Lockhart, before 5 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2011. Results are expected to be published in a special commemorative edition of the Lockhart Post-Register on April 7, 2011.
It would be great if we could opt to vote online next year.
