Lizzie Maye Starr
Our beloved “Aunt Maye” was called to her Heavenly home on May 29, 2012. She was 98 years old.
She was born Lizzie Maye Galloway on Sept. 3,1913, to Abel Baker and Benetta Blundell Galloway. She was raised on a farm outside of McMahan, Texas.
After Graduating from the McMahan School, she attended Southwest Texas Teaching College in San Marcos and received another cert
ificate for High School.
She married Vallen “Sam” Starr on July 12,1933 They worked side by side on many endeavors during their 54 years of marriage, including running a service station, ranching and raising cattle, and the oil business.
Maye was preceded in death by her husband, Vallen; two sisters, Reba Jeffrey and Frances Holter; one brother, AB Galloway; a niece, Billie Jean Bohanan; and a nephew, Jimmy Holter
Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews: Betty Holter, Deborah Galloway, Brenda Galloway, Patty Turner, Sue Marschall, Roy Jeffrey, Ronald Holter, David Holter, Carroll Miears and J.W. Miears; and three sisters-in-law, Edna Elrod, Allene Bray and Dorothy Starr Weeks.
Services were held on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Interment followed at Lockhart City Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were: Robert Cheatham, David Holter, David Jewell, Howard Aiken, Louis Berry, Franz Hofmann and Roy Jeffrey.
