Mr. Edward Haymon Alexander, 82, of Lockhart, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013. He was born on April 25, 1931.

Everyone knew him as Ed. His life was a true journey to say the least. Born during The Depression to a family of “share croppers”, he learned the value of a penny. Watching WWII as an adolescent he saw and learned patriotism. Earning his stripes in the Army durin

g the Korean War and becoming a Golden Gloves boxer during his service time, he learned discipline.

Ed flew glider planes, worked in a crew pit under NASCAR in its infancy, built homes, cars, and owned a few businesses along the way.

He was a traveler of our country. He had children, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild, all who he loved unconditionally and with no prejudice.

At 56, Ed became ill and a spiritual journey began. A worldly man woke up to be a man possessed by the Holy Spirit.

He was a man of great compassion, passion, a sense of humor, and love. Ed Alexander was a man who lived in the history we read about in schoolbooks. He was a husband, a father, grandfather and great-grandfather; a hero, and an angel on Earth.

You are home now Ed.

Mr. Alexander is survived by: his wife, Dora Estella Rodriguez Alexander; children: Ross Alexander, Eric Alexander and wife, Shawnya Alexander, Edward Alexander, Jr, and wife, Brook Alexander, Elinda Alexander, Brian Alexander, and Ronnie Alexander; brothers: Earl Alexander, Jr., and Douglas Alexander; sister: Lunell Joyner; grandchildren: Mirinda Griffin, Landon Griffin, Ashley Berry, Randy Zoeller, Cecilia Alexander, Trinity Alexander, Ireland Alexander and Tyson Alexander; and great-grandaughter, Melody Brook Griffin.

Visitation and viewing are scheduled from 6 – 9 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Deleon Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Grandpa, it’s Trinity! I miss you everyday! Baling my eyes out right now. I miss talking to you, I miss hugging you, I miss your voice and your amazing smile! I miss everything about you! I wish I could have seen you one more time before you passed but God works in mysterious ways and this is the way he planed for us. I love you!
