Michael Joiner, III
Baby Michael arrived and departed on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013. He didn’t have a lot of time with us, but he made the most of it. He gave us time to see his cherub face and hold his perfect little body. He must have been an angel even before he left us because he blessed us. His blessing was to teach us about love, compassion, and generosity – love from his parents, friends, and
relatives; compassion for all who grieved his so short life; and, generosity from caring neighbors who shared our painful loss.
God knows what He is doing. He knew Little Michael was the perfect angel to deliver God’s message of love, compassion, and generosity. That message has touched our hearts and given us strength, so we celebrate Little Michael for doing God’s will. We are all better people now for having Little Michael with us, even though it was just one day. Even though we will miss him every day, remembering his gift will give us joy because we shall be with him again in Heaven when it is our turn to go that way.
Little Michael’s parents are Jo Ann and Mike Joiner; his grandparents are Caroline and Juan Mendoza, Peggy and Frank Coggins, and Mike Joiner, Sr. Jo Ann’s relatives are sisters, Jennifer (Miguel) Islas, Michelle (Russell) Burgin, and Cynthia (Wilson); brothers Darryl (Angela) Mendoza, Jerry Mendoza, Harold Mendoza and Juan Mendoza; five nephews; and four nieces.
Mike’s relatives are his Pawpaw, Ferris Joseph, Uncle, Mike Joseph, Aunt Nancy and Uncle Billy Chandler, and cousins Doyle (Lorraine) Crawford and Billy Chandler, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Juan Mendoza, Sr., Frank Coggins, and Mike Joiner, Sr.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 30, from 8 a.m. – noon, followed by graveside services at Lockhart City Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. A reception with refreshments subsequently was held at his paternal grandparent’s home at 813 S. Brazos St., Lockhart. Father Scott Mikkelson of Georgetown, a longtime family friend and former pastor at St. Mary’s conducted the graveside services.
The funeral arrangements were under the direction of Eeds Funeral Home, 408 S. Main St., Lockhart, Texas 78644 (512) 398-2343.
