Caldwell County sex offender captured in Houston

Early this month, the US Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force captured a former Caldwell County resident who was listed on the state’s 10 Most Wanted List.

Clemente Davila, 27, was arrested on July 2 in Houston after Crimestoppers leads led investigators to a home where Davila

was alleged to be staying. He was wanted on active warrants in Caldwell and Hays Counties, where he faced charges of failure to appear in court, failure to register as a sex offender, probation violations and possession of marijuana.

The charges stemmed from Davila’s failure to comply with the terms of his probation after a 2006 conviction in Caldwell County of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. He had been sentenced in a Caldwell County Court to jail time for the assault of a 12-year-old victim. After his release in 2010, Davila faced another 10 years of probation.

In 2012, he was arrested in Hays County for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements; however, he subsequently failed to appear in court.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by Caldwell County in May 2013, and by Hays County in October 2013. Additional warrants were issued out of Grimes County in the months that followed.

The Texas Department of Public Safety, in partnership with the Office of the Governor and Texas Crime Stoppers program, identifies select fugitives and wanted sex offenders who pose the most significant threat to public safety in the state. Individuals who provide information leading to the arrest of one of these fugitives or sex offenders can earn a cash reward in the amount designated for each person.
