Tommy Finfrock
Tommy Finfrock peacefully passed away at home on Oct.3, 2014 in the presence of his family. He was born in Houston on Jan. 30, 1934, to Jean Paul Finfrock and the former Blanche Josephine Kennedy. Upon graduation from high school he was awarded a full scholarship to Texas A&M to study agriculture, where he formed many life long friendships while earning a degree in Dairy
Husbandry as a member of the Class of ‘56.
On trips to Lockhart, his aunt, Mildred Mohle arranged for him to drive her to the farm of H.F. “Hank” Fortman to get some vegetables, where she made sure that he met a pretty young girl named Wilma Fortman. They were married just over a year later on June 9, 1956, and they remained side by side until his death.
After spending two years in the Army, they returned to Lockhart and operated a retail nursery until 1971 and then a wholesale nursery until 2005. Tommy served as a lay minister and Sunday School teacher over the years at the First Lockhart Baptist Church, Clearfork Baptist Church, Dale Baptist Church, and Fentress Baptist Church. He loved to organize gospel singings and did so often and was an active member of the Gideons for 48 years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wilma; his brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Mary Margaret of Dallas; his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, Paul, Tia and Annika, of Lockhart; grandsons and granddaughter, Joshua, Christopher, Jacob, Lillie and Wil, of Plano; and his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters, Elizabeth, Jason, Mackenzie and Taylor Williams, of Flower Mound.
His legacy is his family and all of those with whom he shared his faith in Christ. He touched many through his faith and his family believes and requests that a donation to the Gideons to further the work of Christ is a more appropriate tribute to his life than flowers.
Please come celebrate his life with us at McCurdy’s Funeral Home by a visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10. A memorial service will be held at McCurdy Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at 11 a.m.
Lockhart has been blessed to know Tommy Finfrock and family over the years. He and my father both served God through works at the church. Though we are sad to have lost a friend, God now has him for work needed in heaven. God bless you Wilma during this hard time.
He will be greatly missed. He was a very kind and wonderful person.
Tommy and Wilma were our buddies when we lived in Lockhart. Had many good times with them. God bless the family….we know he is rejoicing with David.
Paul and Mrs. Finfrock, just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you during this time of loss. Mr. Finfrock was a good friend to my mom and dad and I enjoyed getting to know him when I was younger. Many prayers, Ben Posey
Wilma, I just learned today of your loss. Tommy was such a blessing to anyone that had the pleasure to meet him. Of course so are you. Larry & I will keep you and your family in our prayers as you all adjust to this loss. There is no doubt that he is in the presence of God. Our love and prayers. Larry & Kathy Mika
Paul Finfrock was a dear and treasured friend and he was a friend to my husband who, like himself my husband he was nota native of Lockhart and we dearly appreciated that. Our love to Wilma Jane and the children who were my children’s playmates when they were young children. God bless you all. Heaven has gained a true servant.
Love,
Collene & Jimmy Carey
Dear Wilma and Family,
I knew Tommy while at A & M. He and I were members of the Kream & Kow Klub. He was a wonderful worker, devout Christian and a good friend.
We will keep you in our prayers.

Tommy and I went back to sharing time in ROTC at Reagan High School then again at A & M. He was always a hard worker doing the “right thing.” He added to our lives.
Thanks for Tommy,
Don Bryan ’56
