Beulah M. Lipscomb
Beulah Mae Lipscomb, 99, of Lockhart, Texas, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos. She was born in Lockhart on May 20, 1907, to Ernest D. Williams and Mary Burns Williams.
Beulah married Alonzo Lenard Lipscomb in 1924. Lenard passed away on April 1, 1990. She was active in the Caldwell County Home Demonstration Club, the Ame
rican Red Cross, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She was also a member of the Clearfork Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary Williams; husband, Lenard Lipscomb; son, Alonzo Lenard “Lonnie” Lipscomb, II, and many brothers and sisters.
Beulah is survived by her daughter, Bessie May Nichols and husband, Charles, of Corpus Christi; son, James O. Lipscomb and wife, Joan, of Lockhart; brothers, Bailey Williams of Wharton, and Gerald Williams of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, James M. Lipscomb and wife, Misty, of Lockhart, Debora Nichols of Denver, Colo., Scotty Nichols of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Vivian Dubose, Brenda Dubose and Glenna Walker, all of San Antonio, Alonzo Lenard “Bubba” Lipscomb, III, and wife, Trisa, of Devine, and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2006, in the McCurdy Memorial Chapel with Bro. Scotty Grant officiating. Interment followed in the Lockhart City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Allen Gordon, Mike Bading, George Hinckley, Mike Lipscomb, Bubba Lipscomb and Bradley Lipscomb.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Beulah”s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

James H. Moffett
James H. Moffett, 83, of Red Rock, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at the Hospice Austin Christopher House. He was born on Oct. 1, 1922, in Austin, to Thomas and Dona (Meredith) Moffett.
James married Sylvia M. McMullen on his birthday, Oct. 1, 1941, in McMahan. After more than 30 years of bridge construction, James retired to the Red Rock community to farm and ranch. He was a member of the Bateman Baptist Church.
James accomplished many things in his life, but above all, he has a family who is proud of where they came from. He instilled in them a love of the land they were raised on and set an example for all of them on how to live their lives. So thank you, Paw Paw, for helping us become the people we are today. You gave us all a precious gift that will last a lifetime – your unconditional love – and we hope, as you are lifted up to Heaven, you are carried on the wings of love from your family.
James is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 64 years, Sylvia M. Moffett of Red Rock; son, James D. Moffett and wife, Barbara, of Red Rock; daughter, Shirlean Petty of Red Rock; grandchildren, Kimberly Juarez and husband, Pete, Kolony Petty, Dee-Anna Adams and husband, Ben, Brandon Petty and wife, Jennifer, Kevin Moffett, Donovan Moffett and wife, Tracie, and Jamie Moffett; and by 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Dona Moffett; an infant brother; a sister, Luella Taylor; son-in-law, Gene Petty, and by his grandson, Jason Moffett.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2006, in the McCurdy Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Schlimgen and Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. Interment followed in Pettytown Cemetery in Bastrop County. Pallbearers were Kevin Moffett, Donovan Moffett, Brandon Petty, Pete Juarez, Tommy Taylor and Ricky Taylor.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the wonderful staff of the Hospice Austin Christopher House for their excellent care and compassion. Memorial donations in honor of James may be made to the Christopher House, 2820 E. Martin Luther King Boulevard, Austin, TX, 78702.
