Alvin Gus Homann
Alvin Gus Homann was born on Feb. 15, 1919, in Kyle, Texas, to Fritz Homann and Rosa Band. He grew up on the family farm. He married Lucille Reinhardt and lived most of his life with her raising cattle and chickens. Alvin and Lucille would sell any extra eggs to neighbors. As a pastime, they enjoyed bowling at Club 21 dance hall. Fishing was also tops on their list of recrea
tion, as well as playing cards and dominoes with friends.
Alvin and Lucille worked together on the farm until Lucille went to be with her Lord on March 15, 1996. Alvin joined her in the arms of the Lord on Aug. 13, 2009.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Rosa Homann; his wife, Lucille; his sisters, Helen Tally and Martha Ilse; his brothers, Carl and Albert Homann; brothers-in-law, Ed Tally, Willie Ilse and Jessie Dean.
A sister, Betha Dean, and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends survive him.
Funeral services were held on Aug. 17, 2009, at St. John Lutheran Church. Interment followed in the Live Oak Cemetery in Uhland. Honored to serve as pallbearers were: Ciff Johnson, Pat Dean, Elmer Johns, William Ilse, Larry Marley and Tommy Coers.
