Austin fugitive arrested in Lockhart

Fugitives should think twice before hiding out in Lockhart.

For the second time in less than a year, a fugitive from justice was found and arrested in Caldwell County, this time, at a residence in Lockhart.

Denis McGinity, of Austin, was arrested last Friday in connection with a bank robbery in Austin.

ccording to the Austin Police Department, McGinity is the lead suspect in the March 17, 2009, robbery of an A+ Federal Credit Union on West Stassney Lane in Austin. Officers who responded to the scene said McGinity, 40, entered the bank location and presented a note to a teller demanding money. He then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On Friday, April 10, McGinity was located at a residence on Sabine Street in Lockhart. He was apprehended without incident by the Central Texas Violent Crimes Task Force, which consists of FBI agents and detectives from the Austin Police Department robbery unit. The Lockhart Police Department also assisted in the arrest, taking the suspect into custody and transporting him to the Caldwell County Jail.

McGinity is still being held in the Caldwell County Jail, with bonds set at $35,000. His involvement in the robbery is still under investigation.
