Betty Merle Ortmann Hinkle
Betty Merle Ortmann Hinkle, 77, of Lockhart, Texas, formerly of Bayside, Texas, died March 11, 2005. Betty was born to Oscar and Ella Kuck Ortmann in Dreyer, Texas on Jan. 15, 1928. Betty graduated from Orange Grove High School and received her teaching degree from Texas A & M University. She married Jackson J. Hinkle on Oct. 5, 1951 in Smiley, Texas. Jack and Betty
made their home in Woodsboro, Texas where Jack was president of the First National Bank of Woodsboro. She taught school at various school districts including Floresville and Refugio where she retired. Jack and Betty spent many wonderful years living on Copano Bay in Bayside, Texas. They moved to Lockhart in 1997. They were very active in banking, church and civic activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving brother, Wilfred John Ortmann and her husband Jack. She is survived by her niece, Dr. Patricia Stillwell and husband Bill of Yorktown; nephews, Dennis Ortmann and wife Peggy of Smiley, Dr.Chris Ortmann of Smiley; numerous relatives. She is also survived her brother-in-law, Claude F Hinkle Sr.; sister-in-law, Bonnie Scott; nephews, Claude F. Hinkle (Skip) Jr., Jack Hinkle, Ricke Scott, Wayne Scott and Mike Scott; nieces, Mary Beth Nickel, Ann-Margaret Hinkle, Rebecca Mehrwerth, Debbie DeBaun, Peggy Robinson, Nancy Cathcart, Zora Ann Hinkle, Robbie Lee Taylor and Imogene Magedson. Aunt Betty was a devoted wife, loving sister, dear aunt and generous friend. The family would like to thank Terrye Gardner for her loving care over the years.
