Brad Simon
William Bradford “Brad” Simon was born in Lockhart, Texas on February 24, 1954 to Wilma Rae and Travis Woodrow Simon. Brad’s roots were firmly planted in Lockhart as he lived within the city limits his entire life. Brad was baptized into Christ’s family in 1964 at the Lockhart Church of Christ. He graduated from Lockhart High School in 1972. After graduation, Brad served with the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged as a sergeant on March 27, 1978. He next started working for Texas Gas then, later, the Lower Colorado River Authority as a lineman then as a safety specialist until he retired in 2013.
He met his lifelong partner, Nancy Kay, and they were married on August 23, 1980. Nancy’s son, John Glen Simmang, became Brad’s son that day as well, and he loved him as his own until his death on June 25, 2014. Their son, Timothy Travis, was born on June 28, 1984 followed a few years later by their daughter Ashley Nicole on September 29, 1988. Brad adored all his children with a fierce love and was deeply involved with their hobbies and joys and loved spending as much time with them as possible. He opened his heart further and became “Papaw” when his grandbabies were born: John Bradford Simmang, Victoria Marie Simmang, and Hallie Rae Simon.
Brad was deeply involved in the Lockhart Church of Christ and served as an elder for many years. Later, he became the deacon over benevolence and outreach in the community. He was a deeply spiritual person and walked closely with God. Brad was an avid fisherman and barbeque pit master. He loved employing both these pastimes while involving church members and the kids of the youth group. Brad became a Papaw to all the children of the church and was beloved by all the babies. Brad was also passionately involved with the Lockhart Foodbank and was serving as its vice president at the time of his death.
Brad received his eternal reward on June 26, 2024 at 70 years of age and now walks hand in hand with God. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Simon, his son Tim Simon, his daughter Ashley Simon, and his sister Karen Sue Lancaster with her husband Mel Lancaster. He is also survived by his grandchildren John Bradford Simmang with his wife Laurie, Victoria Marie Simmang, and Hallie Rae Simon.
