Carroll T. (Jack) Konecny
Carroll T. (Jack) Konecny of Lockhart (formerly of Baytown, Texas) passed away on May 16, 2007.
Jack was born in Bryan, Texas on Sept. 29, 1916. He moved to Baytown after graduating from High School and lived most of his life there. He was employed by Humble Oil in Baytown in December 1941. He retired after 40 years of service as a Supervisor in the Railroad Department
at the Baytown Exxon Refinery. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baytown where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. After retirement he was a member of the Exxon Annuitants Club. After moving to Lockhart, in 2005, he was a member of Saint Mary”s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Buck and Mary Konecny; his brother, Taft Konecny; his sister, Helen and her husband, A. H. Merka of Baytown, and brother-in-law, George Garner of West Columbia, Texas.
He is survived by Wanda, his beloved wife of 66 years; his three children, Jeanne Wallace (husband Bob) of Lockhart, Gary Konecny of Portage, Ind., and Raymond Konecny of Austin; four grandchildren, Rebecca Wheeler (husband Bowie), Matthew Wallace, Alex Konecny and Eric Konecny; and one great-grandchild, Austin Wheeler. He is also survived by a sister, Beatrice Garner of West Columbia, Texas; two nieces, four nephews and their families in the Baytown area.
Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting and going camping with his family. He and Wanda enjoyed dancing and traveling. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services were held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Bryan, Texas on Saturday, May 19 with Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating.
