Celebrate heritage!
The Greater Caldwell County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating history and heritage this weekend as the Caldwell County Courthouse Square comes alive with Cinco de Mayo – 2011.
The annual celebration of the Mexican Army’s victory over French forces kicks off on Friday evening, when food and arts-and-crafts booths open at 6 p.m.
Throughout the evening, DJ
Jesse Cruz will provide music, leading up to a special street dance from 9 p.m. – midnight featuring Raul Navaira.
On Saturday, the newest addition to the Cinco de Mayo festivities, the first annual Cinco de Mayo 5K will begin downtown at 8 a.m.
After the footrace, booths will open back up at noon, for a full day of entertainment, rides and games for children of all ages.
DJ Mega Street Sounds will keep the crowds moving throughout the afternoon with music, until Ruiz Dance Studio and Company takes over with a Ballet Folklorico performance beginning at 6 p.m.
Texas Latino and Albert Tiger Diaz will host a street dance beginning at 8:30 p.m.
