Charles Coopwood “Coopie” Chapman 79, of Richland Hills passed away Aug. 6, 2012.

Funeral was held at Richland Hills Christian Church, with interment at Arwine cemetery in Hurst, Texas.

Coopie was born in Lockhart, Texas, on Jan. 30, 1933, to Dorothy and Coopwood Chapman. Grandparents were A.R. and Lyde Chapman and

A.J. and Ester Storey, all of Lockhart.

Coopie

had a wonderful childhood growing up in Lockhart. After graduating from Lockhart High School, he attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he was a member of the Longhorn marching band as well as the ROTC band. Coopie graduated from the University with a business degree.

While at the university he met his soon to be wife, Judy Marie Fanning. They married on Dec. 28, 1956, and celebrated 55 wonderful years together.

Coopie worked at Monnig’s Department store for 18 years and then enjoyed a career traveling as a children’s apparel sales rep. Following retirement in June 1992 he began a new career with Texas Refinery Co. until 2011.

Coopie is survived by his wife Judy Marie Chapman; son, Michael Charles Chapman and wife, Christi; daughter, Diane Marie Morgan and husband Dan; grandchildren: Micaela Evans and husband, Rob, Collin Chapman and wife, Brittany, Adrienne Alverson, Aaron Alverson, Channing Chapman, and Stephen and Danielle Chambers. He was also blessed with six great grandchildren.

    Mr. Chapman was a dear friend. He was a true Texan and always had kind words to lift us up. Somehow he could always bring the rain when we needed it most. We will always remember him fondly.

    Coopie was a great neighbor. We enjoyed four generations of Chapman’s and loved them all. We always looked forward to visiting with the entire family. We will miss him.
