City of Lockhart seeks community Input for new Comprehensive Plan
City of Lockhart
The City of Lockhart is seeking community input to update its Comprehensive Plan. The updated Plan–once adopted by City Council–will serve as a guide for policy decisions relating to the physical development of Lockhart in the next 20 years. It establishes a long-range vision for the community and makes recommendations that will provide direction for future decision making. The updated Comprehensive Plan will focus on the following:
* Land Use, Growth and Development
* Mobility and Transportation
* Housing and Community Services
* Economic Development
* Infrastructure and Public Facilities
The City’s current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2000 and updated in 2011.
To ensure the updated plan best represents Lockhart’s interests and priorities, the community is encouraged to provide preliminary input by filling out an online survey through the project’s website, www.PlanLockhartTX.com and clicking the “Get Involved” tab. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at Lockhart City Hall (308 W. San Antonio St., Lockhart, TX) and the Dr. Eugene Clark Library (217 S. Main St., Lockhart, TX). The survey will be open from August 11 to September 8. Input received from this survey will help the City’s Comprehensive Plan consultants, Freese & Nichols, understand what is important to the Lockhart community from the outset, influencing the creation of a vision statement and set community goals, upon which the plan recommendations will be based.
If you have any questions or would like to provide your input in person, Plan consultants and City Staff involved in the project will be present at the next Courthouse Nights on Friday, August 18, at 7 p.m.
The City of Lockhart officially kicked off its Comprehensive Plan update process with the first meeting of the citizens Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee at the end of June. The Committee, which is made of members appointed by Council and representing various aspects of the community, will meet regularly throughout the process to discuss community feedback and how that input is turned into goals, objectives, and strategies to guide the next 20 years of Lockhart’s growth. Additional public engagement opportunities will be happening in the fall, please visit the website to stay up to date and sign up for email notifications of future events.
