Dorothy Loriane Hoover Reed passed away on June 23, 2024, at the age of 93.  She was born to the late James and Sallie Hoover on September 6, 1930, in Waller Co, Texas. Dorothy was one of the 10 children.

She worked part of her life for the Lockhart school cafeteria as an outstanding cook and baker. All the kids knew her for her wonderful cinnamon rolls and peanut butter bars.

After leaving the cafeteria work, she would take anyone to their doctor appointments in Austin, San Marcos, and Luling. She always loved helping people.

Her love of music lead her to driving her car full of ladies to go to different towns to enjoy musicals. She also loved to dance and her and Gordon would even go square dancing.

Dorothy loved all her children and grand and great-grandchildren very much. Everyone loved her everywhere she went. Her favorite name for anyone helping her was “sugarfoot.” She was always happy.

She is preceded by her husband, Gordon Reed (2010) and all her brothers and sisters. Dorothy is survived by her children, Phillip Gordon Reed and his wife Val and Diana Taylor and her husband Johnny; her grandchildren Rodney Taylor and his wife Timea, John Paul Taylor and his wife Beckie, Lacey G. Anderson and her husband Russell and Christa McVicker and her husband Robert. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren: Anna Taylor, Adalina Taylor, Zane Taylor, Braxton Haynes, Collin Taylor, Harrison Taylor, Nathanial Reed, Madeline McVicker, Lillian Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy will be extremely missed but forever remembered. May she rest in peace.
