Dorothy Mae Labermeyer
Dorothy Mae Labermeyer, a longtime resident of Lockhart, passed away at home after 9-year battle with cancer on July 24, 2024, at the age of 84.
She was born in Red Rock, Texas on May 20, 1940, to the late Paul A. Culpepper and Mettie (Hamblin) Culpepper. She went to High School in Redondo Beach, California, and was a graduate of Redondo Beach High School. She graduated from Redondo Beach, California the summer of 1957 she married Josef Labermeyer in 1958 in Long Beach. Dorothy became a U.S. Army military wife, and they welcomed 3 children together, Josef, Paul and Lisa. Dorothy and Josef were married 54 years until his passing in 2013.
After Josef’s retirement they moved back to the Lockhart area to be near her family. She was a member of the First Lockhart Baptist Church. Dorothy was Josef’s caregiver for the last 15 years of his life when he was battling cancer.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband and 4 sisters: Alma, Eveline, Dale and Beth. She is survived by her 3 children Josef Robert Labermeyer and his wife JoAnn, Paul Otto Labermeyer and his wife Erica, and Lisa Susan Labermeyer. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Bateman Cemetery on Saturday, August 10, 2024, beginning at 10:30 AM.
