Evenings with the Songwriter: Jeff Talmadge

Growing up in small Texas towns, their ghosts and memories appear often in his songs – distant trains in the night, unread letters lying in weathered mailboxes, and memories of the things we love-and-leave blowing across the vast Texas plains. Lyrical imagery and textures that whisper their way effortlessly into the heart, Jeff’s songs are haunting treatises on longing and remembrance. A graduate of Duke University, (winner of the prestigious Academy of American Poets Award) Jeff earned his Masters from the Warren Wilson College MFA Program for Writers in North Carolina. He was a successful board certified Texas lawyer and award winning poet when he closed down his law office in 2003 for life as an itinerant singer songwriter.
