For the 28th time in the past 35 seasons, the Lockhart Boys Cross Country team will be represented at the UIL Boys State Cross Country Championships. The meet will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, at The Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The 5A Boys race will be run at 11 a.m.

Lockhart sophomores Ethan Herrera and Ivan Gonzales advanced as individual athletes to compete at the regional meet at Teas A&M-Corpus Christi based on their performance at the district meet.

Herrera ran an outstanding race at the regional meet as he placed 10th out of a field of 189 runners competing in the race. Herrera covered the 3.1-mile (5,000 meters) course in 16 minutes and 36 seconds. Gonzales placed 71st in 18 minutes and 4 seconds.

Herrera will now move on to compete at the State Meet this Saturday as the lone Lockhart representative at the state meet.
