Hons Davis, Jr.
Hons “Mann” Davis, Jr., a resident of Lockhart, passed away on May 30, 2015 at the age of 90.
He was born in the Brownsboro Community to Samuel Hons and Thelma (Perry) Davis on June 14, 1924.
He married Lora Ann Keen on June 15, 1962 and with this union they raised four children: Marilyn, Carolyn, Desmond, and Wendy.
He and his father were injured in a gravel pit acciden
t in 1940, which eventually resulted in losing part of his left leg in 1946. He did not let this injury stop him, and became skilled at walking and working with a prosthetic leg. He worked many years as a mechanic and a truck driver before settling back in Clearfork in the early 1980’s. He was the proprietor of Clearfork Sand and Gravel for the next 35 years.
Mr. Davis loved fishing and boating with his kids and grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Hannah; and his daughter, Carolyn Morgan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lora Ann (Keen) Davis; children, Marilyn Slack, Desmond Davis and Wendy Muckelroy and her husband, Callie; a sister Ruth Patton; grandchildren Richard, Kathy, Ella, and Emily; multiple other grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Also surviving Mr. Davis are his sister-in-law Connie Plotts and her husband, Wayne, and brother-in-law, Jim Hannah and his wife, Carolyn.
Services were held at Clearfork Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Richardson on Monday, June 1, 2015, with interment at Clearfork Cemetery.
