Caldwell County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan and it is asking citizens to provide input.

Why Hazard Mitigation Plans are important: 

• These plans help minimize the impact of natural hazards like floods, wildfires and severe storms by taking preventative measures before disaster strikes. 
• Elements of such plans include actions to mitigate risk such as land use planning, infrastructure improvements, public awareness campaigns, and property acquisition. 
• Having an approved Hazard Mitigation Plan often makes a county eligible for federal funding to implement mitigation projects.
