Jannie Rae Asberry
Jannie Rae Asberry passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2014, in Lockhart, Texas. Jannie Rae Asberry was born on the Dec. 8, 1956, in Lockhart, Texas. She was the daughter of Beulah Mae Johnson and Rathers Asberry, who preceded her in death.
Jannie was also preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Joyce Asberry; her grandmothers, Fannie B. Curtis and Hattie Carter; two uncles, H
arlon “Dude” Brown and Rick Johnson; two aunts, Shirley Williams and Lou Jackson; and long-time companion Odell McClain.
Jannie attended school in the Lockhart Independent School District.
She is survived by one sister, Billie Joyce Branch, and a caring and loving brother-in-law, Abner, of Lockhart; two brothers Rathers, Jr., of Lockhart, and McAllen Asberry (Christal), of Kyle, Texas. Jannie is also survived by one aunt, Amanda Brown, of Lockhart; two uncles, Willie J. Johnson, of Houston, and F.K. Johnson, of New York; one great-uncle and –aunt, Cal C. Carter and Verlee Carter, of Lockhart; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and a special friend, Sheila Baty, of Houston.
A funeral service was scheduled at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, with Rev. J.E. Morris, Jr. officiating at St. John’s United Baptist Church in Lockhart, Texas.
