Junior Varsity Lions fall 57-32 to Rebels

The Junior Varsity Lions fell 57-32 to the Hays Rebels at the Lion’s Den on Friday, Feb. 13 in the last JV basketball game of the season.
From the beginning, the Rebels took control of the court, scoring 17 points and allowing only six from the Lions in the first quarter.
Dylan Plummer scored five points in the first
with a three pointer and a two-pointer. Jarell McBride made a free throw.
The second quarter was the highest-scoring quarter for both teams. The Lions scored 12 points to the Rebels 19, ending the first half at 36-18.
Howard Berry added eight points in the second quarter with a pair of three-point shots and a two-pointer. Schon Colorado and Plummer each scored a two-point shot.
After a halftime break, the Rebels came back with the same intensity to score another 15 points while allowing the Lions only nine. The third ended at 51-27.
Plummer sank a three-pointer in the third. Landon Pederson, Jay Baltierra and McBride each made a two-point shot.
The closest the Lions came to tying a quarter with the Rebels was in the fourth. The Lions scored five points while the Rebels scored six ending the game at 57-32.
Colorado scored a three-pointer in the fourth while J.B. Alvarez made a two-point shot.
