Lady Lion volleyball fight for wins
Varsity Lady Lions
The Lady Lion varsity team met the Fredericksburg Lady Hillbillies at the Lions” Den on Friday, Sept. 2.
The Lady Lions came out on fire in the first game winning 25-12.
In the second game, it went neck and neck but Fredericksburg came out on top with a 26-24 win.
The third game went to the Lady Hillbillies also, 25-20. However, th
e Lady Lions were not ready to go home. They came back to win the fourth game, 26-24.
The Hillbillies proved they wanted the victory after winning the fifth game, 16-14.
On offense, Kelly Witte made 10 kills while Natalie Raemsch and Krystal Laws each made nine. For assists, Laws completed 17 as Witte completed 16. At the serving line, Ashley Moore made three aces, while Laws and Brianna Hinnenkamp each made two aces.
On defense, Venoris Carter hustled for 13 digs, while Hinnenkamp and Laws each made nine digs. At the net, Witte had three blocks and Raemsch had two.
“Fredericksburg was a very worthy opponent,” Coach Bernice Voigt said. “The ladies played a good match tonight. We played all the way through and the last game could have gone either way, unfortunately for us it went to Fredericksburg. The girls are continuing to improve each match.”
The Lady Lions will begin district play on Friday, Sept. 9, against Elgin with a 3-9 overall record.

Freshman Lady Lions
The Lady Lion freshman volleyball team beat Fredericksburg in two games, 25-17 and 25-17, on Friday, Sept. 2.
The Lady Lion dominated the entire match. The most offensive players of the match were Sydnee Porter, Chelsea Martinez, Jessica Guerra, and Jenny Price.
The most defensive players of the game were Jerri Myers and Shelby Ohlendorf.

8th Grade “A” Team
The 8th grade “A” volleyball team defeated the Wimberley Lady
Texans Thursday, Sept. 1, in a tough hard-fought match in
Lockhart. The two teams matched serve for serve, spike for spike, and tip for tip throughout the 45-minute match.
The Lady Lions ended up with the victory, 25-19, and 25-22.
Bianca Juarez was outstanding for the team, playing good back row defense and executing five kills.
Desiree Roland had nine kills for the team, and Megan Corbitt did an excellent job setting during the second game.
“The entire team played well together, communicating, and digging up everything the Lady Texans threw at them,” Coach LeAnn Sibley said.
Brandy Stacks also played well at the serving line, with six consecutive serves to conclude the second game.
The Lady Lion team is now 4-1, and takes on Goodnight
Thursday, Sept. 8, in a district contest.

7th Grade “A” & “B” Teams
Monday: The Lady Lion 7th grade “A” team lost their match against San
Marcos Miller, 25-5 and 18 -25, on Monday, Aug. 30.
“Although they lost their match they fought a very impressive battle,” Coach Tamar Collins said. “Keep your heads up Lady Lions you will get them next time.”
Victoria Hill served four out of four serves.
The 7th grade “B” team played a three game match, and they were defeated, 25-10, 23-25, and 15-13. Cassie Arredondo and Courtney McGehee both served seven out of seven serves during thee game.
On Thursday, Sept. 1, the 7th grade “A” team lost in two games to the Wimberley Lady Texans.
Dominique Trevino went seven for seven at the serving line including four aces. The 7th grade “B” team won an impressive two game match, 25-6 and 25-4, against the Lady Texans.
“Teresa Latour had an awesome serving night completing 11 serves in a row with six aces,” Coach Collins said. “Way to Go Lady Lions!”
The Lady Lions will take on the Goodnight Lady Rattlers of San Marcos on Thursday, Sept. 8.
