The Varsity Lady Lions fell 13-25, 25-21, 14-25 and 19-25 to the Hays Lady Rebels at the Lion’s Den on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
“The girls were ready to start round two of district,” Head Coach Jamye Pauley said. “We worked really hard in the game, but Hays is just a really good team. The girls never stopped fighting and took
a game off of them. They worked really hard… and it’s not fun to come out of that with a loss, but I know it has them fired up for what is coming.”
The Lady Lions played as well as they could have against a tough Hays team. They held their own, taking the second set and fighting to stay in the game during the fourth.
Kills in the game came from Meredith Moore and Ashley Moore who had five kills each. Jessica Guerra made 12 assists and had one ace. Shelby Henrichs had 12 digs and an ace. Chelsy Martinez made an ace and Gabby Galvan made a block.
“Seeing we had a day off with no game on Friday, we started fine tuning all our basics,” Pauley said. “We worked super hard with being conditioned to be able to fight hard for as many games as needed. The girls had an awesome week of practicing and I know they are ready for Lehman!”
The Lady Lions faced the Lehman Lady Lobos on Friday, Oct. 17 and will travel to San Marcos to take on the Lady Rattlers at San Marcos High School on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
