The Lockhart Lady Lions earned a dramatic 42–40 win over Navarro on Tuesday night, closing out the contest with a go-ahead score in the final 30 seconds of regulation. The late basket gave Lockhart a two-point advantage, which the team successfully defended until the final horn.

The first half reflected a tightly contested matchup, as both teams scored nine points in the opening quarter. Lockhart gained a slight edge in the second quarter, outscoring Navarro eight to seven, heading into halftime with a narrow lead.

Following the break, Navarro returned with increased intensity and was able to create a scoring gap during the third quarter. Despite the momentum shift, Lockhart remained composed and continued to compete on both ends of the floor.

“We talked at halftime about staying disciplined and trusting our execution,” said Lockhart’s coaching staff.     “Even when the game didn’t look like it was going our way, the girls stayed locked in and continued to fight.”

Lockhart responded in the fourth quarter, steadily closing the gap and putting themselves in position for a final possession. With less than 30 seconds remaining, the Lady Lions capitalized offensively to take the lead for good.

“That last possession showed a lot of maturity,” said coach Johnson. “We didn’t rush, we made the right read, and we finished. That’s growth.”

J.. Perez and TJ Horn led Lockhart in scoring with 11 points each. The victory highlights Lockhart’s resilience, defensive effort, and ability to execute under pressure in late-game situations.
