Lion lifters open with dominant showing at Navarro
On Saturday, the Lockhart Boys and Girls powerlifting teams competed at the Navarro Invitational Powerlifting meet.
The Lady Lions had more lifters finish in the Top Five of their weight classes than any other team.
In the 132 weight class, Ileana Gonzales finished third, lifting 590 total pounds and Gloria Horton finished fourth, also lifting 590 total pounds.
In the
148 weight class, Sara Urbanski lifted 550 total pounds, finishing fourth and Lauren Yanez lifted 545 total pounds finishing fifth.
In the 181 weight class, Mariah Castillo finished third, lifting 700 total pounds, Annalyssa Salinas finished fourth, lifting 615 total pounds and Madison Ramm finished fifth, lifting 590 total pounds.
Raven Ortega finished second in the 220 weight class, lifting 560 total pounds.
The Lions finished first overall at the meet.
Damian Camacho competed in the 114 weight class and finished second, lifting 470 total pounds.
In the 132 weight class, Alex Mata finished third, lifting 920 total pounds.
In the 181 weight class, Devin Norman finished second, lifting 1,065 total pounds and Greg Rivera finished third, lifting 1,035 total pounds.
Joel Juarez finished fifth in the 198 weight class, lifting 1,135 total pounds.
In the 275 weight class, Roman Ruiz finished second, lifting 1,220 total pounds and Caleb Bishop finished third, lifting 1,200 total pounds.
Edward Camacho finished first in the Super Heavy Weight class, lifting 1,195 total pounds.
The Lockhart powerlifting teams will travel to Hays High School for their next competition on Jan. 16.
