Lockhart Junior High Relays take Lion Stadium

It was windy and cool throughout most of the afternoon during the Lockhart Lion Junior High School Track Meet on Thursday, Feb. 28.
The Lion Relays started their field events promptly at 3 p.m. after a 30-minute scratch meeting for the coaches.
The seventh and eighth grade boys and girls competed in the pole vault, high
jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put and discus simultaneously for about an hour.
The running events began shortly after 4 p.m. with the seventh and eighth grade girls starting first followed by the seventh and eighth grade boys.
The 2,400-meter run began at 4 p.m. with the 400-meter relay and the 800-meter run following immediately thereafter.
The 100-meter hurdles were set up for the seventh and eighth grade girls after the 800- meter run and the 110 hurdles for the seventh and eighth grade boys were set up after that.
The races continued as follows: 100-meter run, 400-meter run, 300-meter hurdles for both seventh and eighth grade boys and girls, 200-meter run, 1,600-meter run and the 1,600-meter relay.
Lockhart Junior High seventh and eighth graders gained valuable knowledge on what it takes to compete in a big meet at home.
Complete relay results were not available at press time.
