Lockhart men arrested with drugs, cash

A two-month investigation into alleged drug trafficking ended last week with two arrests and the seizure of a large amount of drugs and cash from a Lockhart residence.
According to information released by Caldwell County Sheriff Daniel Law on Monday, narcotics detectives executing a search warrant in the 300 block of Ch
urch Street arrested two men and seized more than $2,000 in cash and narcotics and marijuana with a street value in excess of $13,400.
Just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, detective arrested two men, a father and son, on charges of possession of a controlled substance. The elder suspect, 50, is a repeat offender with 11 prior arrests on his record. At the time of the arrest last week, he was on parole from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in connection with prior charges. He is currently being held not only on the possession charges, but on a parole violation with no bond issued by magistrates.
His son, 22, has at least five prior arrests, and was on probation for possession charges at the time of his arrest. In addition to charges stemming from the drug trafficking investigation, he had two active warrants for motions to revoke his probation. The total bond set for his charges was $222,000.
The investigation and arrest are the products of a combined efforts of the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and the Chisholm Trail Special Crime Unit. Caldwell County District Attorney Trey Hicks’ office is expected to assist with the follow-up investigation.
