Merl Harris
Merl Elizabeth Harris of Maxwell, Texas, passed away on July 31, 2012, at the age of 83. She was born on April 7, 1929, in Fouke, Ark., to Charles Coy and Mary Elizabeth Rister Combs.
Merl was a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked in the cafeteria for the public schools for many years. She loved sewing and quilting. She also devoted her time visiti
ng with her grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, Raymond Earl Harris and her grandson, Jason Kyle Leclerc, preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Randel E. Harris and wife, Cindy, of Mandeville, La., Kenneth D. Harris and wife, Deborah, of Metiarie, La.; one daughter, Vicki D. Leclerc and husband, Donald of Maxwell; two brothers, Coy Combs and Chester Ray Combs; two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Ophelia McCown; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Family received friends at McCurdy Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012. Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart. Interment followed at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Long Prairie Cemetery in Kerens, Texas.
