Modesta “Weda/Molly” Mercado

Modesta (Weda/Molly) Mercado, 87 years old, left us peacefully on April 1, 2020 with her family by her side at home. Modesta was born on March 28, 1933 to late Rita and Crisencio Galvan in Seguin, Texas. She was preceded by death by brothers Cruz Galvan, Fiedenco Galvan, Manuel Galvan, Jessie Galvan, Jimmy Galvan, Crisencio Galvan, and sisters Benita Alvarez, Janie Herrera, Josie Luna, Sustenace Maldanado, Vasila Gonzalez, and Karolina Gonzalez. She survived by her sisters Inez Hernandez, Tina Mirelez, and Frances Diaz. Modesta married her late loving husband Pablo Mercado Sr. on May 7th, 1958. They settled down in Lockhart, Texas with their seven children, Fiedenco Mercado, Dora Rodriguez, Janie Diaz, Robert Mercado, Pablo Mercado Jr., Augustin Mercado, and Jesus Mercado. Modesta took the role of being a homemaker and loving mother not only to her seven children, but to four of her grandchildren. She had 18 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was very kind and welcoming to every person she encountered, her love was unconditional. She was a devoted wife and was called home to join her loving husband, Pablo Sr., who had been patiently waiting as usual on August 8, 2013. Her warm smile will never be forgotten. “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.” The Mercado family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us during this time of loss. The services were held at Thomason Funeral Home and due to COVID-19 only be immediate family attended. The funeral graveside service were held on April 7, 2020 at noon.
