Drawn by the blend of small-town character and the rapid growth of the Austin–San Marcos corridor, Dr. Gustavo Boeta Lopez has made Lockhart his new home, citing both personal and professional motivations for the move.
“I was drawn to Central Texas because of the unique mix of small-town charm and the fast-growing communities around the Austin–San Marcos corridor,” Dr. Boeta Lopez said. “Lockhart stood out, it’s a place where people know their neighbors, where families have been rooted for generations, and where there’s a strong sense of community.”
He added that the proximity to the Hill Country, with its scenery, food, and outdoor offerings, made the decision even easier for him and his wife.
Like many rural-rooted communities experiencing rapid growth, Lockhart faces familiar health-care hurdles: limited access to providers, transportation barriers, language differences, and a high prevalence of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.
At TexanCare, Dr. Boeta Lopez says the team is taking a “meet people where they are” approach. The clinic offers bilingual, culturally sensitive care and emphasizes accessibility through same-day appointments, short wait times, and a commitment to removing, not creating, barriers to care.
“Building trust is a huge part of what we do, and it matters especially in communities like this,” he said.
Inside the clinic, located at 1301 S Medina St in Lockhart, preventive care is woven into every visit. Real-time lab reviews, personalized care plans, lifestyle coaching, and routine follow-ups help ensure that patients stay engaged before conditions worsen.
“Every visit is an opportunity to screen, educate, and build healthier habits,” Dr. Boeta Lopez explained. “Even simple interventions, like teaching people to monitor their own numbers at home, can make a big difference. My goal is to empower patients, not just give instructions.”
Dr. Boeta Lopez says he hopes to become a longstanding presence in the community, the kind of family doctor residents feel comfortable returning to year after year.
His broader vision includes building a clinic that is approachable, reliable, and genuinely patient-centered. Over time, TexanCare hopes to expand its services, strengthen ties with local employers and schools, and improve access so patients don’t need to travel far for high-quality care.
“Lockhart is growing, and we want to grow with it, thoughtfully and responsibly,” he said.
While many health systems are expanding virtual options, the Lockhart clinic currently focuses entirely on in-person care. According to Dr. Boeta Lopez, face-to-face visits remain essential for managing chronic conditions and building trust.
Even without telemedicine, the clinic maintains convenience through same-day availability, timely follow-ups, and a highly accessible care team.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Boeta Lopez stays active through lifting, swimming, and exploring Hill Country trails. He and his wife enjoy discovering small towns and their local food scenes. He keeps a balanced diet, from overnight oats and plenty of vegetables to occasional favorites like apple pie and Texas barbecue.
“Staying active and taking care of myself helps me bring more energy to my patients,” he said. “Health isn’t just numbers, it’s about living a full, enjoyable life.”
With his blend of medical expertise, community commitment, and personal passion for healthy living, Dr. Gustavo Boeta Lopez is poised to become a meaningful part of Lockhart’s future.
