Rafael Romero, Sr.

Rafael Romero, Sr. passed away on May 21, 2018 at the age of 86 in Austin, TX. He was born in Fentress, TX to Luis and Susana Romero.
He will be remembered as a loving father who enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Rafael, Sr. was the glue that kept the family in contact with each other. He will be best known as having a heart of gold.
He is preceded in death by his parents; longtime companion, Manuela Escobedo; daughter, Rachael Herrera and sons, Ramiro Romero, Rocky Romero and Roger Romero. Rafael is survived by his daughters, Susie Lozano (Richard) of Kyle and Rosemary Jimenez of Luling; sons, Rickey Romero of Luling and Ralph Romero, Jr. (Sonia) of Luling; Francisco Munoz, who was like a son to him; 30 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at McCurdy Funeral Home, Thursday from 4-9 pm with the Holy Rosary recited at 7pm. Mass will be on Friday beginning at 11 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Martindale with burial at San Juan Prairie Lea Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers include David Romero, Ricardo Martinez, Jr., Frank Corpus, Jr., Richard Gonzalez, Jonathon Moore and Randon Romero.
