Ross W. Norman
Ross W. Norman, Sr. lost a courageous effort to battle leukemia on Oct. 3, 2006. Admirably he had expressed, “if the research study was not successful for him, it may be for others.”
Ross was born in Lockhart on Nov. 19, 1921 to Ross C. and Sadie S. Norman. Prior to becoming an independent businessman, he served as a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp flying B24 bombers.
He had a lifetime passion for hunting and fishing and later in life, gardening.
He was a devoted family man and enjoyed 64 years of encouragement and pleasure with his loving wife, Dorothy. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, son Ross Jr., granddaughter Melissa Mathis and his sister Louise Harris. In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by his children Nancy, Phil and Mike; daughter-in-law Sis Norman; grandchildren Michele Munger and her husband, Alan; Susan Epps and her husband, Mark; Master Sgt. Robert Lobit and his wife, Miranda; Ross W. Norman III and his wife, Molly; Andrew, James and Anne Marie Norman; great-grandsons Ryan and Reid Munger, Will Mathis, Kendal and Ethan Lobit and Ross W. Norman IV; special family friend, Auggie Mathis; his sister, Wilmeth Wagner and her husband, Bill; and four nieces and nephews. Special friends were John Consely, his hunting buddy, and Ned Easterling, his fishing buddy.
