Searcy A. Barber Jr.
Searcy A. “Ottie” Barber, Jr., 88, of Fentress, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 13 in Lockhart, Texas. He was born on Sept. 12, 1916 in Fentress, Texas to Searcy Arthur Barber, Sr. and Cora Woodward Barber.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor Gillis Barber on March 2, 1992; two brothers and two sisters.

e Kara of Spicewood; daughters, Sally B. Evans and husband Bill of Victoria; and Elizabeth Ann Forester and husband Bruce of Lockhart; sister, Adelia Barber of Brenham; sister-in-law, June Gillis of Troup; eight grand children: Erin Varnell and husband Chris; Kurt Evans; Sara Evans; Dylan Barber; Blain Forester and wife Mary; Blake Forester; Blair Forester; and Ryder Forester; and one great-grand child, Lucy Varnell.
Ottie served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, as well as a loving father and husband.

Visitation was held on Monday, Feb. 14 at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15 at McCurdy Memorial Chapel. Internment followed at the Fentress Cemetery, Rev. Don Duvall officiating. Pallbearers in attendance were Kurt Evans, Dylan Barber, Blain Forester, Blake Forester, Blair Forester and Ryder Forester.
