Shirley Ann Walker-Harris
March 5, 1960 — December 10, 2024
Shirley Ann Walker-Harris was born to Arcie and Bobbie Jean Walker on March 5, 1960, in Lubbock, Texas. At an early age, they moved to Denver, Colorado, where she grew up and later graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. Then, her family moved to Lockhart, Texas, and in 1979, she met Clifton Harris Jr., the love of her life. They married on March 7, 1986, and had two sons, Aaron and Patrick, who were born Autistic; Clifton and Shirley stayed positive, patient, and loving and kept their faith in God.
They are members of St. Marks United Methodist Church, where Shirley helped as a communion usher. Shirley has worked various jobs and loved working in customer service with the public. She worked for notable companies such as Sears, Walmart, Walgreens, and Austin Telco Federal Credit Union, where she retired.
Shirley was passionate about music and enjoyed a variety of genres and artists, but her favorite was old-school R&B and Rap. She saw music as a powerful tool for expressing emotions and motivation to dance. When she danced, you couldn’t help but smile, laugh, and enjoy the moment because she just made it extra fun.
She was a person who loved fashion, makeup, and jewelry. You would never see her without being put together; she was a fashionista. Shirley consistently presented a polished and well-thought-out appearance, watching the trends but maintaining her style that looked effortless and refined, with attention to detail like her coordinated accessories, regardless of the occasion.
Shirley was a family-oriented person who prioritized her family’s needs before her own, especially when it came to those she loved and cared about. The greeting cards with a gift card are cash she would send, text messages to say I love you, all holiday greetings, and remind you of the upcoming specials at restaurants and store sales. She taught the young you must believe in yourself when no one else does, and you can do anything; the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of your dream.
Proverbs 10:31 describes Shirley best: “A good woman is hard to find and worth far more than diamonds. Her husband trusts her without reserve and never has reason to regret it. Never spiteful, she treats him generously.” Shirley and Clifton had a love so pure it seemed they shared the same heart. It is rare to meet the person made just for you, but God blessed Shirley and Clifton to meet their soulmate, and they lived a life filled with love for 38 years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Arcie and Bobbie Jean, sister, Arleen Walker and her husband Rich, and father-in-law, Clifton Harris Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Cliton Harris Jr. Sons Aaron Bryan and Patrick Ryan. Three brothers: Reverend MC Walker (Sharon), Arcie Walker Jr. (Marion), and Stevie (Carmen) Walker. Sisters: Laticia Walker and Angela Knight of Lubbock, Texas. Mother-in-law Alfay Harris, Brother-in-law Wendell (Betty Jean) Harris, sister-in-law Sherry (Ralph) Sneed, Tammy Harris, and Paula (Joel) Villalobos. In addition, Shirley leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
