THEIR JOURNEY CONTINUES: Class of 2018 crosses into life’s next chapter

A week of baccalaureates, awards ceremonies and banquets was punctuated on Saturday for Lockhart High School’s class of 2018, which turned its tassels to the right, received its diplomas and gleefully tossed its caps into the air as it became the latest group to graduate.
Three hundred and twenty four people took their first steps into adulthood at Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos as one by one, their names were called to the stage.
But before that, some recognitions were in order.
Lockhart Principal Luciano Castro – the emcee for much of the afternoon – named the top 10 students in alphabetical order. Each received a $1,000 scholarship from the Top 10 Scholastic Scholarship Program, which was begun in 1991 by parents and educators and has been kept alive by LHS alumni.
