Frank Schulle, Jr.
Frank Schulle, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, in Lockhart.
Frank was born on April 6, 1934, to Betty and Frank Schulle on a farm near Maxwell. He was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church at Maxwell.
Frank married Dorothy Barth on Sept. 6, 1953. He enlisted in the Air Force shortly after graduating from Lockhart High School. After his discharge from
the Air Force, he attended Southwest Texas College, now Texas State, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
He was a teacher, coach and principal in the Lockhart Independent School District. Frank was also high school principal in Flatonia.
After his retirement, he wore many hats. He was appointed Municipal Judge for the City of Lockhart, worked for McCurdy Funeral Home, and was administrator of Lockhart Hospital. He was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving as President and on various committees.
In 1996, Frank and Dorothy were awarded the Spirit Award by the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce for their work for the community and their church. In
2003, Frank was named Lockhart’s Most Worthy Citizen by the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce.
Frank and Dorothy enjoyed traveling with their friends Dorothy and the late Doug Buckner to Europe several times, Canada, Nova Scotia, and various states. He enjoyed fishing and growing the most beautiful roses in Lockhart.
Frank was preceded in death by his and Dorothy’s son, Andy; by his parents; and by a brother, Eugene.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; sister, Alma Schulle; nephew and wife, David and Cassie Reed; nephew, Harlan Reed; niece, Cathy Lynn; and many cousins and copious friends.
During his life, Frank touched many lives. Former students had often told him that except for his influence and guidance, they would have ended up, in their words, “in the big house.”
Frank, you will be missed by all who knew you.
