J W Love was born Jack Wiley Love to Bertha Lee (Joplin) Love and Jess Elmer Love on April 21, 1950 in Round Rock, Texas. After high school, JW Joined the U. S. Army, where he served in Vietnam and other places. He served for eight years, then left for a short while before serving another four. JW was a lifetime member in the VFW.

He made a career as a Peace

Officer in Travis County. He retired from his post as The Coordinator of Security in the Travis County Jail in 1989, due to health problems, after 18 years.

JW was married to Sandra Sue Clendennen Love on Oct. 17, 2007. Ray, a longtime, close friend of the family and the preacher who performed the wedding ceremony, wrote the incorrect date on their certificate. No problem, though – they just celebrated both days.

JW enjoyed music, his hand guns, and relaxing in front of the television with friends and family (especially if John Wayne was on). He was always partial to cake, enchiladas, hamburgers, and (did I mention) cake? He always looked forward to mornings spent with friends at the Sirloin Stockade just drinking coffee and swapping stories. He was not a slave to fashion. Normal may be a pearl snap shirt with red Bermuda shorts.

He and Sandy resided in Lockhart, and then in Luling, Texas with their two sons, Mason and Trey, until his death on Oct. 4, 2016, from a stroke.

He was 66 years, five months, and 13 days at the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon, Allen and Ray; and sisters, Peggy Vixon, Louise Hobbs, Janet Warn and Mary Love.

JW is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Kerrie Raby Than; and sons, James and Shanon Patschke, David Raby, and Mason and Trey Love. He also leaves a sister, Elizabeth, and brothers Daniel, Roy, Lewis and Bert. There are also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends that will always keep JW alive in our hearts.

Interment was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, in the Lytton Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers Cheyenne Cedido, Dell Jackson, Guy Clendennen, Jeff Brown, Leslie Smith, Steven Raby, Terry Capps, and Tyler Yount, delivered JW to his final resting place. Pastor Bud Cheatham presided over the service.
